Join MPS Chinese Dance to build confidence, teamwork, and dance skills. Students may also pursue Performing Arts in secondary school through DSA.
About Chinese Dance
MPS Chinese Dance is a dynamic and inclusive CCA dedicated to the art of dance. Students will learn basic coordination skills, dance techniques and improve their flexibility. Dancers will develop leadership skills and confidence as they guide their juniors and perform in public. Most importantly, they foster both personal growth and a sense of camaraderie.
Besides that, the CCA aims to provide an opportunity for students to pursue Performing Arts in secondary school through Direct School Admission (DSA). Over the years, there have been at least 4 successful applicants who continued to develop their talents and passion in schools such as ST Margaret’s Secondary School, Woodlands Riverside Secondary School and Woodlands Ring Secondary School.

CCA Highlights
Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation
MPS Chinese Dance members participating in the SYF Arts Presentation will not only have the opportunity to showcase their talents but also gain meaningful learning experiences beyond dance. Through months of dedicated practice and preparation, students develop resilience, discipline and confidence as they perform before a wider audience. This journey also deepens their appreciation of the rich cultural heritage, traditions and artistic expressions embodied in Chinese dance.
Showcasing of talents and skills 2025
MPS Chinese Dance members have opportunities to showcase their talents during school events such as the Annual Awards Day and cultural celebrations, as well as external performances at the Defence Collective Festival and the National Day Dinner organised by Marsiling Community Club. Through these experiences and learning journeys, including an engagement with the NUS Chinese Dance group, students develop discipline, teamwork, perseverance and confidence while deepening their appreciation of Chinese dance and its rich cultural heritage.

MPS Chinese Dance participated in the SYF Arts Presentation held at NUS UCC on April 4, 2024. The dancers display resilience, teamwork and excellence during their rehearsals and subsequent finale. The Chinese Dance was awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment.

Props used in Chinese dance
Throughout the year, the MPS Chinese Dance has performed using the different props such as silk fans and umbrellas.
The MPS Chinese Dance has recruited new members by reaching out to the students during the CCA Roadshow. It aims to expose students to Chinese culture, gaining deeper understanding and appreciating the Chinese culture.
