Engaging With Songs, Our World Through Songs
Primary 1 to Primary 4 students embark on a global musical journey in this programme. They delve into a vibrant array of melodies and songs hailing from diverse corners of the world. Beyond simply experiencing the tunes, they immerse themselves in understanding, grasping, and mastering the musical elements.
But there's more to it than just beats and rhythms! Our students are whisked away into the rich tapestry of socio-historical narratives and cultural landscapes associated with each song's country of origin. It's not just about the music; it's a voyage through history and culture, all wrapped up in the universal language of melody.
From BUSK till dawn
Get ready to watch our Primary 3 to Primary 6 students showcase their talents in a supportive and non-competitive atmosphere at “from BUSK till dawn"! Each term, for a span of two weeks, during recess, students have the chance to take the stage to showcase their skills and passions.
The MPS community eagerly awaits these lively performances and dynamic display of talent, which take place at the canteen. Standout acts discovered during these sessions might even earn a spot at the Teachers' Day Concert, showcasing their talent to the entire school!

Music Masterclass
Marsilians embark on a musical journey filled with growth, discovery, and endless possibilities from 'In Curriculum Music Enrichment Programme’ - Movement through Music in Primary 1 and Voice Exploration in Primary 2. Exceptional students who are discovered through our 'In Curriculum Music Enrichment Programme' will receive exclusive invitations to join Music Masterclasses tailored to their respective levels, building upon the foundations laid in their regular Music lessons. These sessions serve as an intermediate exploration of musical forms, offering a deeper dive into their talent-identified discipline.
But that's just the beginning! Participants will also have the opportunity to further hone their talents by joining our Niche Performing Arts CCAs, such as Choir, Chinese Dance, and Malay Dance. Representing the school in the SYF Arts Presentation, they'll showcase their skills, enrich their portfolios, and pave the way for future applications to Direct School Admission (DSA) through CCA participation in Primary 6.
Tech Tunes: Music Making using Technology
Primary 5 and 6 students unlock their creative potential as they delve into the exciting world of music improvisation, enhanced by technology. Harnessing the affordances of GarageBand, students are given the autonomy to express their musical creativity. Students get the opportunity to experiment with rhythms and make informed decisions in their creative work that reflect their understanding of musical concepts and elements acquired from Primary 1 to 4.
Curriculum Enrichment Programme:
P1 Movement through Music and P2 Singing (Voice Exploration)
Get ready for an immersive dance and vocal adventure. In Primary 1, students explore the art of movement, using their bodies and surroundings to craft dynamic dance moves inspired by diverse musical genres. Meanwhile, in Primary 2, it's all about finding your voice! Engaging in lively vocal exercises and exciting song games, students learn to project their voices with precision while mastering essential singing techniques and healthy breathing habits. It's a journey of self-expression and skill-building that lays the foundation for a lifelong love of music and performance!
Jamming with Ukulele
Dive into the captivating world of the ukulele! Students will learn a diverse array of fundamental strumming patterns and techniques and conquer the foundational chords of C, Am, F and G. Students build their confidence during lessons, and some even performed at “from BUSK till dawn” to dazzle audiences with their newfound skill. Let’s strum away!
Hip Hop Hustle: Move & Groove!
Get ready to groove with our Primary 6 students as they dive into a series of hip-hop dance lessons as part of their post-PSLE program. From mastering cool moves to showcasing incredible resilience and teamwork, they come together as a class to perfect and master their class's dance choreography. The excitement doesn't stop there – during the P6 Appreciation Lunch, every P6 class gets the spotlight to perform and cheer on their peers, creating unforgettable moments of celebration and unity!
